Garment deadline - 24 June 2022
Garments must be received no later than 5pm on the 24 June 2022.
Each garment must be sent with the following items to complete your entry:
• 2 copies of the completed two page Garment Details Form (download PDF from this page - above, from 2 February )
• 2 colour photographs of your garment
• 2 copies of clear description of how your garment and accessories are to be worn
• A clearly marked return label, courier ticket and packaging
Use the Important Checklist inside the Entry Information booklet (download PDF above) to check you have included all items to successfully complete your entry.
Address to send garments:
The garments are required to be in Gore by 5pm on 24 June 2022, the address to send them is Mainfreight Depot, 2 Oldham Street, Gore 9710. Mainfreight have agreed to freight large items over a certain dimension at a reduced cost, please contact me for more details if you wish to take up this option otherwise you will need to use courier sized bags and boxes which will still need to go through NZ Post or a courier company but to the Gore Mainfreight Depot address supplied. Please ensure you have supplied return documentation.
N.B. There are to be no physical drop offs to the depot, garments will not be accepted. If you live locally and wish to drop a garment off please contact myself to arrange this at a time when we will be physically present at the venue.

Judging
All entries will be considered at a preliminary judging (2 - 3 July 2022) when garments will be selected for the finals.
All Entrants who’s designs have NOT BEEN accepted will be notified by 4 July 2022.
If successful entrants wish to attend the Awards, tickets go on sale 6 July. Be quick as shows sellout fast.
GARMENTS WILL BE JUDGED ON:
• How well they meet the brief of the section entered into
• Cut and finish
• Innovation and originality
The Judges decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Organisers reserve the right to reject any entry due to poor workmanship, poor quality or non-practicality of the garment.
Conditions of entry

Entrants are required to design and enter a garment of their own choice in the fabric/fibre suitable to the section.

Garments must be new and made within the past twelve months and NOT have been shown at any other competition. Garments must not have been worn to any function i.e. School balls parties etc. Garments shown at graduation shows are allowed. School Entry garments that have been previously entered in their school Make and Model Shows are also allowed, as long as they did not place.

There are no design restrictions. Designers may not necessarily be the maker of the garment. Garments deemed unsafe or impractical to be shown on the catwalk will still be judged but displayed on a mannequin during the show.

Garments made under licence or commercial label in New Zealand are not eligible. Organisers reserve the right to accept or reject any entry under this clause.

Entry is open to all ages. (You do not have to be a design student to enter).

To be eligible for ‘The Young Designer Award’, you must be under 21 years of age on the 30 June 2021, and you must state your age on your entry form/online entry.

To enter: Entrants must complete one entry form per garment entered. This applies to both online entries and printed entry forms.
The completed online entry/entry form and entry fee must be received no later than 1 June 2021. See in the section above (Important Dates & eps 2021) for payment details and address to send postal entries too. -
Garment delivery requirements and Garment Details Forms: Pink Garment Details Forms (available to download at the top of this page) and garments must be received no later than 5pm on the 24 June 2022, or they will be disqualified. Please see below the important checklist of items that must accompany each garment to successfully complete the entry process. Send garments to: Mainfreight Transport Gore, 2 Oldham Street, Gore 9710. Important: Absolutely no physical drop offs to this address as they won’t be accepted. Please contact Sheree McIntyre (Entries Coordinator) if you wish to deliver your garment/s personally.

All entries must be labeled with entrants name sewn onto garment. Accessories must also be named. All labels must not be visible when modelled.

Garments preferred size: 10 or 12. Average height: 5’7” to 5’9”. Male size: 102-108 chest. Waist 81-86cm.

Garments will be modelled by models selected by the organisers. Designers are unable to specify their own models.

Once garments are in the hands of the organisers, they cannot be uplifted until Monday 1 August 2022 between the hours of 9am - 1pm, from the Mackay Room at the Gore Town & Country Club. No garments can be collected on Saturday night after the show..

It is the responsibility of entrants to insure their property from the time of initial dispatch through to it’s return.
Garments will be on and off models many times during judging and shows. Organisers will take care to prevent makeup and other markings during this time, but are not responsible for marks or damage to garment due to being worn.The organisers take no responsibility for garments lost in transit. Please use our an accredited courier and make sure the return address is correct, and you have a return tracked ticket enclosed. Failure to comply with this means your garment will not be accepted.

Proper packaging and dispatch of garments and the costs are the responsibility of the entrant. No personal deliveries will be accepted and all garments must be boxed for posting/delivery. Such boxes must be named. Mainfreight Depot, 2 Oldham Street, Gore 9710.

If you wish to withdraw your garment, you must notify the Entries Coordinator by 30 June 2022.

Committee have the right to change garments from one section to another.

Organisers may keep prize-winning garments for up to 12 months after the Awards for promotion and display purposes. The Award of Excellence garment becomes part of the permanent Hokonui Fashion Design Awards display collection.

Organisers have the right to use any photography and video footage taken over the course of the event for publicity and promotional purposes. .

By entering these Awards, the entrant accepts all conditions of entry and declares that all details are true and correct.
